heartening gift

what does a teacher want during Teachers' Day ? i only wish my pupils and ex-pupils would give me a piece of paper, on it , written with his/her feelings and thoughts. . . the greatest gift i received are not presents , but words , that strengthen my bond with my pupils. . . or just an SMS . . . would be so heartening. . . .
