Safe Driving Tips x 2

Driving can be made safer. After passing my driving test on 28 september 1999, driving has never been an easy task up to today, despite almost ten years of driving. I got into two minor accidents in ten years. One was when i reversed while talking on the phone hands-free, bang ! hit the car park concrete pillar. lauky it was a pole and not a man! Second was when i brushed the headlamps of a taxi.

But the most scariest were not these two. Not Realising that there is a vehicle at the Left or Right Blind spot is the worst. While changing lane, do TURN the head and look at the blind spot, half a second and a head turn's effort, will make driving safer. Just yesterday, as usual, i turn my head (left this time, as i am filtering left), i was lucky. There was a a car! invisible to both side and rear mirrors! that's why they call it the BLIND spot. If i had not turn my head, i would have filtered and change to the left lane, hitting the car(or worst motor cycle). Of 50 times i turn my head to look at the blind spot, i should say only 1 time, there is a car hidden there. So is it important. Yes! Look out for blind spot.

My second tip for the day is how to approach a Traffic light junction. Speed up or slow down.?? Recently i developed a safe guide for myself. Slow down as i approach the traffic light junction, to about 50km/h, when i reach the second arrow (painted on the ground) infront of the traffic lights, if there is no amber light, i would speed up, if amber light turns on before i reach the second arrow, i slow to to stop and not cross the traffic light junction. However, if i have passed the second arrow infront of the junction box, and then the lights turn amber, i would speed up and cross the junction. It is too late to stop anyway. This is common sense to many experienced driver, but the two arrows painted infront of the junction box have been my great guide recently!

May All have a safe Journey, in lives and on the road. om mani padme hum . . .

Please comment. If you are a driver and you see this post! ha ha ...
